Position Summary 

Electrical & Instrument Technicians install, repair, or maintain, in accordance with manufacturer's or site specifications, electrical and instrument equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.  Technicians must be available to work scheduled (planned) or unscheduled (unplanned/short-notice) hours on nights and/or weekends as needed to meet operating and/or business needs.

Mathematical Skills 

  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, volume, flow, current, resistance, power and voltage. Ability to apply basic concepts of math, algebra, geometry, and ohms law.


 

Reasoning Ability


 

  • Ability to solve practical problems that deal with electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Good analytical skills sufficient to analyze mechanical problems.  Problem solving is a critical part of a mechanic's job.

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision.

  • Technicians must be physically capable of spending long hours outdoors and occasionally work in chemical-protected clothing and equipment.

  • Ability to lift minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders (including vertical).


 

Work Environment 

E&I Technician must be able to perform work under the following conditions:

 

  • Awkward or confining work space.

  • High places.

  • Outdoor environment.

  • Noisy environment.

  • Dusty, some odor from chemicals, etc.

  • Safety (working safe) is a job requirement.

  • Adverse Weather Conditions.

  • Capable of spending long hours outdoors on their feet and occasionally work in chemical-protective clothing and equipment such as: acid suits, self contained air packs, face shields, hoods, etc.

  • Working with equipment voltage rated for 12- 4160 volts. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn and procedures followed.
