Designer, Senior/Associate

Position Overview

Working in collaboration with other leaders, take responsibility for and provide direction to ensure high-quality design. Oversee the project design process including provision of technical expertise on specialized design, design guidance, and meeting client objectives. Mentor and coach designers with a view to foster career progression and grow our company’design capability.

Responsibilities & Duties




  • Contri bute to our leadership and set an example to colleagues, employees, clients and the community in regard to commitment to our culture






  • Assume leadership roles in management and operations business areas such as design resourcing, project performance, and business development






  • Ta ke an active role in employee development by mentoring and coaching staff and acting as a Performance Manager






  • Particip ate and support the development of our business initiatives


Manage Projects




  • Lead and take responsibility for project delivery, including coordination of design, production, contract administration, and financial success of multiple projects






  • Mana ge our design process including creation of design concepts, generation of presentation material, and required submission documentation






  • Provide guidance to the design team during project design development






  • In itiate concepts and idea discussions






  • I mplement design standards in the overall project administration and organization






  • Work with technical and contract administration staff to produce successful design development and contract documentation in alignment with our standards of quality, client program, and budget needs including coordinating project specifications






  • Work with others to lead project meetings and client presentations






  • I nteract with clients on a broad range of administrative and management issues such as invoicing, contract interpretation, scheduling, and content of deliverables






  • Work with authorities having jurisdiction to interpret and conform to codes and bylaws


Business Development




  • In close consultation with Principals and Business Development leaders , participate in business development efforts for future projects and build client networks






  • Champion or lead contributions to respond to proposals and presentations






  • Build relationships with clients through responding to program and budget requirements


Minimum Requirements
BS, BA or MA in Architecture from an accredited Architectural Program coupled with a minimum of 10+ years of architectural experience




  • Registration with a provincial regulatory board an asset






  • Demonstrated excellence in an area of architecture and leader in various areas of the practice






  • Demo nstrated ability to organize and lead projects and project teams






  • Proven leadership in design






  • Effective people management skills including delegation, coaching, and performance management






  • Demonst rated ability to coach and develop others






  • Person al maturity and sound judgment






  • Superio r communication and marketing skills (promotions, business development, proposal writing, etc)
