Job Title: Technical Specialist – Radio Access Network (RAN)

Job Description:

Technical specialist is accountable for the architecture support development, design, selection, standardization, configuration and certification of new Radio Access network technologies. Specialist is also accountable for delivering high quality documentation such as new technology introduction, diagrams, design, recommendations and handoff to operations related documentation.

 

Accountability:

1-      Participate in vendor evaluation and selection.

2-      Participate in design workshop for LTE RAN technology.

3-      Assist the company to provide technical leadership and expertise for the introduction and sustainment of network technologies.

4-      Participate in the preparation of request for proposal (RFP), request for quotation (RFQ), and request for information (RFI) under the guidance of the network architects.

5-      Assist the company to evaluate, certify, standardize, document and introduce the network technologies (i.e LTE & HSPA).

6-      Lead specific technology and service development work.

7-      Identify, evaluate and standardize on network technologies to meet marketing and operational requirements while ensuring long term objectives within the company NIS plan.

8-      Provide guidance and mentorship to other technical specialists and people from other departments within the company.

9-      Represent the company technology development internally and externally as a technical subject matter expert on LTE.

10-  Create presentations and recommendations for internal and external communications.

11-  Manage vendor relationships.

12-  Participate in vendor negotiations representing the company.

13-  Participate in the development of statement of works and contracts with vendors.

14-  Prime vendor discussions on technology reviews, information sessions and production demonstrations.

 

Education and experience:

1-      Bachelor degree or diploma in Engineering, computer science or equivalent combination of education and wireless experience.

2-      7+ years of equipment hands-on experience working in telecommunication HSPA/GSM/LTE carriers and vendors.

3-      P.Eng or technology designation is preferred.

4-      Knowledge and experience of operational handoff processes.

5-      Experience in RF and propagation.

6-      Problem solving skills and experience solving RAN issues.

7-      Experience in producing Operational handoff or transition to production documents.

8-      Experience doing lab testing and certification.

 

Knowledge:

1-      Knowledge of network products, IP networks, and the associated network management.

2-      Ability to work in wireless application development.

3-      Knowledge of  IP transport and cellular concepts

4-      Knowledge of TCPIP, AAA, PPPOE, PPPOA, L2TP, BGP, SNMP, VPN, MPLS, ATM, 3GPP and 3GPP2.

5-      Knowledge of consumer CPE such as DSL, CPE routers and wireless handsets.

6-      Understand the new technology introduction process.

7-      Good communication skills.

8-      Familiar with operational models.

9-      Able to work with others (Must) in a team environment.
