Job Description
The incumbent facilitates the effective daily operation of the department by providing clerical and administrative support to the departmental employees.
- Provide word processing and clerical services to laboratory personnel.
- Maintain document control of controlled documents.
- Maintain paper and electronic calendars, schedules, and files for the Diagnostic Services Manager.
- Provide administrative support at meetings.
- Perform timekeeping and scheduling duties.
- Maintain Laboratory Offsite Records.
- Perform reception responsibilities.
- Provide back-up support for all secretarial duties in Product & Hospital Services.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Skills
- Completion of a secondary school program.
- Completion of post-secondary secretarial training from an accredited community college or academic institution.
- A minimum of two years experience in an office environment.
- Previous experience in a community-based health service is an asset.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, being able to exercise sound judgement, tact and discretion when dealing with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with departmental staff, management, volunteers, and customers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, being able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within short time lines.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers within a Windows operating system using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and Lotus Notes software.
- Accurate typing skill of a minimum of 50 wpm is required.
