My client is a global leader in the IT consulting industry. They are looking for an Application PM (Y2K Application Remediation Projects) to work in their Winnipeg, Manitoba. This is a 6 month assignment with a possibility of extension.
Job Description
This is a Senior Project Management Position to manage a multi-year, multi-phased Application Remediation Project to enable existing legacy applications to leverage 10 Digit Dialing and the new NPA 431 in the 204 geographic area.
Knowledge and Skills :
· Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of key THE CLIENT Services' operational policies, processes and methodologies applicable to project management. Speaks with authority to most layers of depth related to project management methods Makes use of and contributes to THE CLIENT s Project Manager (PM) Professions community Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified
· Critical Competencies to Drive Business Results:
· Customer Engagement/Project Knowledge: Actively develops and incorporates profound understanding of client factors when planning and executing client project/Project activities
· Project Execution: Applies understanding of project/Project requirements to execute day-to-day implementation
· Project Tracking and Reporting: Continuously mines Project data to assess overall contribution of Project to business success
· Project Improvement: Continuously monitors, troubleshoots, and improves Project to ensure Project effectiveness
· Project Troubleshooting: Resolves Project issues quickly to maintain client satisfaction while protecting THE CLIENT's interests
· Project Team Management: Effectively manages and develops project team to achieve project/Project objectives
· Services Support Policies & Procedures: Applies understanding of THE CLIENT service organization and functions to support internal and external customer requests
· Project Improvement: Continuously monitors, troubleshoots, and improves Project to ensure Project effectiveness
· Project Management Methods: Applies Project/project management methods and processes to define, plan, cost, resource, track and ensure the accomplishment of targeted goals
· Change Management: Develops methods for supporting innovation and change across the organization
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
- experience managing 10 Digit Dialing or Y2K Application Remediation Projects for the following legacy applications:
· Class Application
· Power Builder
· Reusable Software Services
· BARS Application
· MPS Application
- PMP Certification
- A minimum of 10 years managing projects with a total contract value of 5 million dollars or more.
- Experience establishing initial project governance and best practices that align with PMBOK
- A proven track record managing multi-year and multi-phased projects
- The ability to create and manage a project budget
- A minimum of four years working in the Telecommunications industry
- An in-depth understanding of Applications Development Best Practices in the areas of requirements definition, design, execution and acceptance criteria to support effective oversight of the project
- The ability to learn and leverage THE CLIENTs Project Management Methodologies and Best Practices for Application Development Projects.
- Experience in various project management methods including Waterfall and Agile approaches.
- Ability to manage a combination of best shore and local resource teams, with a proven track record in managing virtual teams.
In addition the individuals will be :-
- Interacting with team members, customer representatives, and all other project management roles while ensuring that the project goals and objectives are achieved;
- Interacting with other Project Managers of other subprojects to coordinate the interfaces and resolve interface issues among component subprojects;
- Interacting with Team Leaders to address and resolve issues and concerns at the operational level;
- Formulating statements of problems;
- Establishing procedures for the development and implementation of significant, new or modified project elements to solve these problems, and obtaining approval;
- Defining and documenting the objectives for the project;
- Determining budgetary requirements, the composition, roles and responsibilities and terms of reference for the project team;
- Reporting progress of the project on an ongoing basis and at scheduled points in the life cycle using a project tracking tool such as Microsoft project;
- Meeting in conference with stakeholders and other project managers, stating problems and making recommendations for their resolution;
- Participating in risk reduction and corrective action on the most significant risks in the project;
- Preparing plans, charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing or displaying problems;
- Works with a variety of project management tools; and
- Project sign-off.
Qualification:
· FirstLevel Universitydegree with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in project management or in like roles/businesses
