International SOS has been providing medical services to one of Canada’s leading oil and natural gas companies during their development of the oil sands region.  Work is taking place in isolated camps northwest of Fort McMurray in Northern Alberta.  Our company is now expanding our footprint to include projects in Newfoundland.

The Position

The ideal candidate is an excellent clinician, who works well independently and as part of a team. The individual must have the skills to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and business clients.  Understanding and experience in corporate and occupational health is a plus. Remote nursing experience, including working in climate extremes, is advantageous.  Candidates with certification or professional training in digital imagery are highly desirable.

Selected candidates will work as part of a clinical team – which includes Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, and EMS - at an on-site medical center.  Healthcare staff will be providing primary care and emergency support to the local employee population, and will be supported by a clinic medical director. Work will be performed on a rotational basis, with full room and board while on-site.

The Person

  • 2 years experience in an Occupational Health Setting

  • Current registration with ARNNL

  • Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing or Certification

  • Minimum 2 years experience in injured worker rehabilitation/return to work(RTW)Programs

  • Good working knowledge of WHCC (Workplace Health, Safety & Compensation Commission of Newfoundland and Labrador)

  • Computer proficiency

  • Proactive and solution focused

  • Proven communication & management skills

  • Remote and industrial experience, including working in climate extremes, is advantageous
