Senior Systems Engineer
The Altera Newfoundland Technology Centre is growing rapidly, and is currently seeking a qualified Systems Engineer to be a part of our technical team. The successful candidate must have a desire to work with cutting edge communications technology and will be required to stay abreast of advancements in related technologies and international standardization. This individual will be responsible for communicating with Customers to determine their technical product requirements, and aligning these requirements with the requirements established by the telecommunications industry in order to provide functional specification documentation to our Customers. You will also be required to develop test plans to ensure comprehensive and accurate product testing. You will be required to attend regular meetings of the various international standards bodies such as the OIF, ITU-T and the IEEE, and to contribute technical content to these organizations which will shape future technologies and help drive the development of Altera NTC’s product portfolio. You will also be responsible for knowledge transfer of emerging technologies to the internal Engineering design teams. The successful candidate is a technical problem solver who thrives in a team-based environment and will be a key technical interface between external Customers and the internal Sales and Engineering teams.
The successful candidate's minimum qualifications will include the following:
· Degree in Engineering or equivalent educational qualifications
· Strong analytical and organizational skills
· Strong technical writing abilities
· Strong communication skills
· Strong team-oriented work ethic
· Knowledge of Optical Transport Networks (OTN), SONET/SDH, Ethernet and related protocols
· Willingness to travel on a limited basis (2-3 times per year)
· Desire to work with world-class technologies and people in delivering value for our customers
