The Company
Our client, Cenovus Energy, is an integrated oil company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Their operations include growing enhanced oil projects and established natural gas and crude oil production in Alberta and Saskatchewan. They also have ownership interest in two high quality refineries in Illinois and Texas.
Their expansive bitumen reservoirs, along with their considerable natural gas and crude oil production and cost-efficient refineries, offer significant opportunities to delivering long-term shareholder value.
The Function
Cenovus has a strategically critical opportunity for a Reserves Engineer in their Environment & Strategic Planning team. Reporting to the Advisor, Reserves Governance, you will support the evaluation, analyses, and reporting of Cenovus reserves and resources. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a strategic role with significant potential for career advancement.
-Working with Senior Cenovus staff, be a key contributor in the annual reserves and resources evaluation process, including oversight of data conveyance to and from Cenovus’s reserves evaluators, analysis and communication of preliminary and final results, facilitation of internal approvals and disclosure of Cenovus’s annual reserves and resources results.
-With the support of the Reserves Analyst, utilize an existing Essbase data cube to capture and analyze reserves and resources data and generate reports and presentations.
-Communicate with Cenovus’s business teams and Independent Qualified Reserves Evaluators to facilitate the evaluation, verification, approval and disclosure of Cenovus’s reserves and resources.
-Ensure that regulatory and internal disclosure requirements are satisfied.
The Individual
-Membership or eligibility for membership in APEGGA.
-5-10 years experience in reserves management.
-University degree in engineering.
-High attention to detail.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Familiarity with reserves evaluation principles, National Instrument 51-101 and the Canadian Oil and Gas -Evaluation (COGE) Handbook.
-Familiarity with database tools (Hyperion Essbase experience is an asset).
-Capacity to become a leader of the team and mentor others.
