CDL Driver

Position Purpose: Delivers and picks up rental equipment at a branch and customer locations in an effective, efficient, and safe manner.
Position Summary: Makes deliveries and pick-ups in a timely manner. Maintains required paperwork according to company policy, and state and federal regulations. Maintains a safe driving record with little to no safety road incidents. Safely moves and positions inventory, supplies and equipment. Determines when load is properly balanced, tied-down, and flagged, according to company policy, and state and federal regulations. Ensures proper maintenance of equipment through reporting improper operation, faulty equipment, or unusual conditions to supervisor. Turns in thorough daily inspection forms. Demonstrates orientation toward excellent customer service by conducting daily activities, communications, and interactions in a cooperative, positive, and professional manner. May orient the customer in the rental equipment operation. Implements, sustains, and develops quality process improvements that focus on safety, financials, operations and customer service.
Requirements: Minimum two years of experience in operating large semi-trucks and related vehicles, proper loading / unloading techniques, and effective safety practices. Knowledgeable in local, state, and federal regulations and laws relative to safe and legal operation of a vehicle used for cargo transport. Must possess CDL – A license.
Education Requirements: High school degree or equivalent.
Skills: Excellent driving and safety skills. Possess mechanical abilities to drive large rental vehicles such as backhoes, excavating equipment. Good customer service skills.
Training: Training in safe operation of vehicles and rental equipment.
Licenses/Certification: Has valid commercial driver’s license issued by the state of residence and has endorsements and/or restrictions required for legal vehicle operation. If required, possesses a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate or health card (copy acceptable).
Physical Requirements: Lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, squat, reach, crouch and kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in unprotected weather elements, wear hard–toed shoes and other required personal protective equipment, enter and exit vehicle appointed to drive. Possess necessary skills to perform all duties required on vehicle assigned to operate.
Additional Requirements: Able to read instructions and numbers, and to write legibly in English. Completes mandated safety training within 10 days of hire. Follows supervisor’s instructions and works amicably with co-workers. Follows all company, customer and jobsite safety policies/procedures and complies with any other applicable law enforcement or government agency laws or regulations.
