We are currently recruiting for the position of Regional Director, Distribution based out of our Distribution Centre in Calgary, AB.

Reporting to the Chief Distribution Officer, this position will be responsible for the complete operation of the Calgary Distribution Centre; for all receiving, storage, processing and shipment of merchandise to over 30 stores in the South Prairies region. Responsible for the management and development of 90+ employees, supervisors and managers, the successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership abilities and a vast working knowledge of retail distribution systems, standards and procedures.

Position Overview:

  • Prepare financial budgets and report monthly variances; Meet or exceed department budgets

  • Train and develop supervisors and managers; identify and mentor high potential candidates

  • Provide guidance and feedback regarding performance and facilitate continuous learning and development of employees; Conduct performance reviews and performance management

  • Ensure operations meet government standards for safety, maintenance, transportation and all other areas of compliance

  • Develop improvements to processes and procedures to maximize productivity

  • Ensure that health and safety, material handling and security policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff; Oversee the proper investigation of all incidents/accidents

  • Optimize all facility resources (staff, equipment, storage)


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a warehouse environment

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post secondary education an asset

  • Significant experience (5+ years) with a large Warehouse Management System (WMS) in an inventory controlled environment required

  • Previous experience with budgeting, forecasting and reviewing financial statements

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship


Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Practical knowledge of materials handling equipment and safe material handling techniques

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Fully developed interpersonal skills and coaching skills

  • Superior planning and organizational skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
