Job Description
The Laboratory Technologist II – Donor Testing performs routine BGS and/or TD and/or NATtesting, following operating procedures and performs and records all BGS and/or TD and/or NATtesting related quality control/assurance activities. The incumbent performs routine maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment in accordance with approved work instructions to meet regulatory requirements. They participate in ongoing quality improvement activities, maintain technical competency and promote continuous learning and maintain and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Performs routine BGS and/or TD and/or NATtesting, following operating procedures.
- Performs and records all BGS and/or TD and/or NATtesting related quality control/assurance activities.
- Performs routine maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment in accordance with approved work instructions to meet regulatory requirements.
- Maintains and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Maintains Technical competency and promotes continuous learning.
- Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
- Participates in special projects as assigned
- Performs and participates in generalized department operations
- Performs other related duties as required
Required Skills
- Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Current registration in good standing with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and/or provincial regulatory body as required
- Familiarity with Transfusion Medicine/ Red Cell Serology is an asset
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to foster and maintain positive public image of CBS when dealing with customers
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
- Must be detail-oriented and capable of working in a highly regulated environment
- Effective problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to operate related equipment, including a working knowledge of software application in a Windows environment
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job
