A Senior Rotating Equipment Specialist /Solution Architect (SA) provides the leadership and direction for assessing the customer’s assets and systems and develops the design for a technical solution addressing performance issues justified by Life Cycle Cost. A SA provides the system understanding, assessment design, and leadership skills to determine, understand and resolve unique operating problems. As a project leader the SA will direct and drive the duties of a multidiscipline team to design, propose, implement, analyze, and report on system and component assessment contracts. The Solution Architect is a highly skilled and valuable member of the ISG team and is a leader within the organization for the development of unique technical solutions to industry issues. A SA is responsible for driving assessment business and maintains constant interface with Sales to build strong customer relationships in order to develop proactive solutions and enthusiastically promote the products and services of the Integrated Solutions Group. The Position will travel approximately 50% of the time to evaluate Customer facilities, present ISG capabilities, implement solutions and follow-up with developed recommendations.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Sell assessment capabilities, equipment monitoring systems, and engineering consulting services for issue identification and solution development
- Initial site assessment of process plants: Upstream and Downstream Oil and Gas Processing Plants, Power generation facilities and Chemical manufacturing plants
- Develops initial project scope, and LCC analysis
- Assist the sales force through customer presentations promoting ISG capabilities and technology
- Develop work scope to solve equipment problems though system or component modification and upgrade
- Analyze system and component performance through data analysis and Customer interviews
- Data acquisition through Customer instrumentation or Flowserve equipment
- Perform system and operational analysis and determine economic impact of modification
- Develop strong customer support though technology focus
- Work with product engineering and corporate technology to determine system and component solutions
- Prepare concise, professional assessment reports that outline methods of analysis, findings, solutions and economic justification for submittal to customers
Knowledge/Skills/Abilitie s/Required:
- BSME or equivalent engineering degree plus 5-10 years of power plant, refinery or chemical plant operations, system analysis, or rotating equipment field troubleshooting experience
- Direct experience in power plant, refinery or chemical plant operations in roles such as Systems Engineer, Rotating Equipment Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator or Officer.
- Direct experience with instrumentation and data collection methods such as portable flow monitoring (ultrasonic methods), pressure sensing, temperature sensing, etc. A working knowledge of rotating equipment vibration monitoring and analysis is preferred.
- Must have motivational skills and a strong sense of urgency to meet Customer commitments in a timely and "above expectations" manner. This position requires an energetic, self-starter who can manage travel, work in remote locations and customer requirements seamlessly.
- The ideal candidate is someone who can acclimate quickly to the variations in configuration and equipment found at different customer plants and sites. Must have the ability to recognize equipment and process improvement opportunities, develop and execute the solution
- Interpersonal skills are critical for optimum communication with Customers and Team. Instructor or technical training is an asset.
- Ability to produce professional work scope and engineering reports which are factual, accurate, and concise. Conclusions and recommendations must be feasible, economical, and based on sound engineering practices and Life Cycle Cost Analysis
