Description:

While adhering to standard safety and quality operational policies and procedures, the primary functions of this position are:

• Operate CNC lathes and milling machines, hand tools and other related machinery

• Read and interpret blueprints and other technical documents to process the component into a finished piece

• Monitor the running condition of machinery; read measuring instruments; respond to all computer error messages

• Inform supervisor/manager of problems and operational concerns that arise; participate in trouble shooting and problem resolution; accurately completes reporting as required

• Be available to work a rotating shift of 8 hours in length, necessitating the candidate to work independently once fully trained

• Actively participate in company safety procedures and programs: correct unsafe work practices or situations; follow reporting protocols for violations; participate in the Hazard Identification process

• 100% participation in identified workplace Personal Protective Equipment requirements

• Fully participate in continuous process improvement, cost control and on time delivery, following quality policies and procedures and standards to maintain within company guidelines

• Perform other duties as required, including clean-up duties and the accurate and timely completion of paperwork

Education:

• Minimum Grade XII education; equivalency considered

Knowledge/Experience:

• previous 3 years experience operating CNC machinery

• excellence level in using micrometer and other measuring equipment

• previous experience in a production/manufacturing machining environment

• manual labor work experience is required

• the oil and gas industry experience is an asset

Skills:

• mechanically inclined

• physically fit

• computer literate

• possess mechanical aptitude, with an eye for detail and a willingness to learn

• able to work independently

• be punctual, reliable, and willing to work flexible hours

• willing to actively participate in the Environmental, Quality, Health and Safety programs

• required to work safely, within standard policies and procedures

• have excellent communication skills in verbal and written English
