Electrical Engineers
Magna Electric Corporation (MEC), with office locations in Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, Winnipeg and Calgary currently employs approximately 300+ Engineers, Technologists, Electricians and office staff. We offer full electrical engineering consulting and design, substation construction, shop services, transformer services, switchgear solutions and training.
MEC is seeking Electrical Engineers for our various office locations. Responsibilities will include complex electrical analysis and design, performing electrical system modeling and analysis including arc flash analysis, protection evaluation/coordination, short circuit calculations/equipment evaluation, and load flow and harmonics analysis. MEC has adopted the philosophy of ‘Flex Engineering’ whereby engineering time is flexible and divided between design work and field work. Engineering fieldwork includes managing the installation and commissioning of new projects along side our Journeyperson Electricians and Engineering Technologists, troubleshooting problems and developing practical solutions to correct deficiencies in electrical systems.
Successful candidates must possess:
- A four-year Electrical Engineering degree
- 5+ years’ experience of both design and field experience in power systems engineering
- A P. Eng designation from a Canadian P. Eng licensing body would be considered an asset
- Experience with complex electrical analysis and design on major projects
- Experience with management, planning and scheduling of various project aspects
- Ability to work well with others in a variety of situations and conditions, as well as possess the capacity to resolve conflicts and provide effective solutions to both technical & non-technical issues
- Enthusiasm and initiative to generate new business leads and increase the exposure of company products and services
- Ability to effectively develop, build and lead high performing teams
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Software
- Previous experience in ESA, SKM or ETAP software
- Familiarity with microprocessor-based relays would be an asset
